step-3On the basis of  the obtained data and inspection, it is possible to pass directly to the design process - the examination of the main requirements, presented to the specifics of the site. The planned space must satisfy many requirements: it must be functional, must consider the conditions of the site and must be proportional. Initially it is important to logically position all of the required zones (isolating the sites of active and passive recreations, the main entrance, gardens and utility areas). The network of roads and paths is created after this. In this stage, the final decision on the style of the site is usually made. It is already possible to make decisions about the advantages and disadvantages of the site (i.e. what to highlight and what to hide). It is very important to isolate the basic purposes and tasks of each part of the site, the wish of customer, the functional aspects of the site and the expenses. The main ideas have to appear in the form of a sketch to be able to move on.

The sketch is created with the use of a personal computer taking into account the scale of the site. For the best observance of proportions and convenient positioning of objects a square grid is sometimes used. Sketching process  - clear organization of all components and future elements. The graphic mapping of the ideas is the basis of the work of the landscape designer. Approximate outlines and circles are initially drawn on a sheet of paper or tracing paper - there can even be abstract forms and lines with which different functional zones are formed.

After creating several versions of the sketch the designer arrives at the site in order to discuss the options proposed with the customer. After comparing all of the advantages and disadvantages in each sketch one of the versions is selected, which satisfies all requirements and the designer can continue to the final stage - work on the master plan. This is the final stage of design.
